Great Horned Owls
LUna's Story And the importance of our nocturnal neighbors

Luna, Our Great Horned Owl
Meet Luna, a majestic Great Horned Owl whose presence commands the canopy with silent wings and golden eyes.
Our mission is to protect her and her kind. By preventing 'Hit by Car' incidents, we help preserve the delicate balance of our local ecosystems. Every guest who leaves the Safari with a mission is one step closer to a future where Luna and her neighbors thrive.
Our Native Neighbors
Great Horned Owls thrive in the diverse ecosystems of our native forests and wetlands. We protect these habitats to ensure the survival of our raptor ambassadors and the intricate web of life they support.

A Journey of Survival
Luna was rescued after sustaining significant ocular and wing injuries during a collision with a vehicle. Due to the severity of these injuries, she is currently non-releasable, requiring specialized medical care and rehabilitation to ensure her long-term survival and recovery.
01
Stop the Scraps
Throwing food scraps from your car window is a major threat. These scraps attract small mammals, which are the primary prey for our Great Horned Owls. By keeping the roads clean, we protect the local ecosystem.

03
Respect the Habitat
Preserving old-growth forests and wetlands is vital for nesting. We encourage you to support local conservation efforts and avoid disturbing nesting sites.
02
Drive with Care
Great Horned Owls are often active at dusk. When driving, be vigilant for low-flying birds. Avoid honking at night, as it can startle them and lead to collisions.
Support the Owl Rescue
Join our mission to protect the Great Horned Owl. Your contribution helps fund the care of injured birds and supports local wildlife rehabilitators dedicated to species recovery.
